Another weed, another helpful herb! This is an herb that I was introduced to by my grandmother who would immediately go for a walk to find it and make me a tea to get rid of a UTI as soon as I mentioned my discomfort. And, I'll tell you what, it worked!!
Witch Grass (Elymus repens) is a beneficial urinary tract support herb. It's a diuretic (increases urine production) and it's also a demulcent (soothes mucus membranes). It's been used to relieve minor UTIs, gout, and kidney stones and has been used to help address prostate issues in men. It may also help with digestion because of enzymes that may help breakdown food. There hasn't been much studied about this herb in the modern science world but there does seem to be a possibility that it has anti-inflammatory effects as well as a possible mechanic in lowering lipids in the blood. This poor herb sometimes gets confused with wheat grass (Triticum aestivum).
In witchcraft, use this herb for protection and cleansing rituals, to break hexes, and it can be used in spells and rituals to attract positive outcomes. If you're looking for something to amplify the power of a spell, this can also do that!
