Herb of the Week: Eleuthero
Called a ginseng, but it's not really a ginseng.

Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus) is usually called Siberian Ginseng, though it’s not a true ginseng like Panax ginseng. The root is used for helping us handle stress better which makes it an adaptogen. What does being an adaptogen mean? It helps the body adapt and recover from stress better and faster. Instead of pushing you up or calming you down unnaturally, it supports balance.
It can help improve stamina, mental clarity, immune function, and overall resilience and it's best taken as a tincture or decoction (simmered about 15 minutes) and used consistently over time. It’s mildly stimulating, so earlier in the day is best.
Now, what would you expect a strengthening root to help with in witchcraft? Endurance. Protection. Fortitude. This is an herb for sustained strength — for building something over time, for holding boundaries, for not giving up. It aligns well with Earth energy for grounding and Jupiter and Saturn for growth with discipline. Work with it in protection blends, resilience charms, or anytime you need steady power instead of a quick spark.
How will you use Eleuthero in your herbal or magical practice this week?
